Okay... like I posted in the last post... I finally received the Promethius Land Raider in the mail from England. Now I kick everything else off the paint table and put the paint machine into high gear and got this bad boy painted. I wanted to get it painted this week so that I could get it sent out to sunny California so Maldus can get it and the other stuff that I painted for the army's pictures taken so in hopes they will draw a little more money for the army. Since it is going up on ebay and the money that is made off of it will be given to the Toys for Tots. I have been talking about this for months now, and I am proud to say that I have finished what I had pledged to paint up for the army.
So I just need to get it all boxed up and shipped out. In the last picture on this post you can see all 3 pieces that I painted for the army. I hope it goes to a good home and everyone is impressed with this stuff.
So October comes to a close... and November brings a new month... and with that a new update. And of course a rundown of everything that I have on my plate. Which the plate is getting smaller because I have less and less time to paint. BUT I have managed to get the stuff for Australia all taken care of, and the Promethius finally arrived so I could get the rest of the studios pledge for the Toys for Tots army done.
So I have the Promethius to get painted and shipped out, Demonllamma's Blood Angels are also sitting on the table waiting to get painted. I have managed to get started on the Chaplain Dreadnaught. The nice thing about the most of this army is that its mostly all sprayed red so I have to highlight and shadow the reds and then add in the details... and poof... done... I know easier said than done with as little time as I have to paint. But I am hoping to get the whole thing painted before Christmas. Might be a bit of a stretch but I think I can get it done. Also on deck for this month is the motivational challenge. Now I only have like 2 more months to do on this and then I will be done with it and have all gold medals. Atleast thats the goal. Now here is my tough decision for this month since its Painters Choice. Do I paint another squad of Fire Warriors, another Hammerhead, or my present from england... 3... count them 3 Forge World Broadsides. I think I will let people vote on that one. Also if I have time and get tired of seeing red I might pull out some Warmachine for a day or two so that I can break things up and not have to paint the same colors over and over.
Okay so I know I have been really slipping this month and things are getting further and further behind. But I have been on the injured reserve for the last couple weeks and just now getting back into the groove of things.
This Pedro Kantor model (with a slight head swap and had his icons removed) was a spur of the moment thing. He just kinda popped onto my rush list to get fast tracked to a friend that I owed a favor to... whom I have painted for in the past and have posted lots of his stuff on here before.
Now and end of the month update for the studio... the stuff that I have been working on for the client in austrailia is going to be going into the mail real soon (like monday at the latest) and the Blood Angels have all finally arrived and the dreadnaught is starting to get some paint on him. So that project is now under way. So while it might be a little slow at times... I will get stuff done... or ask for help to get stuff done when I am way to overwhelmed.
This might be the last post for October so if it is I will see all of you in November... and hopefully it will be a better month.
Okay... let me start this off with saying that I know I have no excuse for not getting stuff painted and pictures posted. I just have been super busy with this new job that I don't really get much in the way of time to paint like I used to when I wasn't working. So stuff is just going to have to come a little slower but I promise I will be making time to get some painting done.
So with that being said... I give you my motivational challenge entry for October and it is submitted in time for gold this month (just barely). But I got this Hammerhead done in like record time the other day so that I could get my gold claim for the month.
So... September turned into a total fail month for me. I know I still have the blood angels and the 13th company wolves sitting here waiting for attention. Which in all honesty I am waiting for my paint table to turn into a scene from underworld or even worse... twilight...
But since it is Halloween month it seems very fitting that I have vampires and werewolves sitting on my table waiting to be painted. So really things have not changed at all since my mid month update as to what is on the table for the moment other than the fact that I have added the motivational challenge piece to the roster for this month... and its just another Hammerhead for my Tau... so it shouldn't take all that long to crack it out. In fact it is going under the airbrush later today along with the 13th company stuff... what better way to quickly paint 100 arms. Blast them all grey and then pick out the details... they shouldn't take all that long either.
Now my excuse for this big delay... well... I have been working alot and have not had enough energy to get started on anything. But that is all going to be changing cause I have SO much stuff to get done... and not a whole lot of time to get it all done in. SO... I am going to keep this short so I can get painting. In closing I don't know if I will be getting pictures posted up of every little thing that I paint between now and the end of these projects... but I will do my best.
Now time to get caught back up.
I know I have never done a mid month update... at least not an official one. As several of you know this has been my only job for a while now. Well last night I got hired on in a professional kitchen and I am going to be working 3 to 4 days a week in there. So my paint time is going to be cut in half so commissions are going to start coming a lot slower. In other words the 2 that I have now. (Blood Angels and 13th Company Space Wolves) are going to be it for a while. Once I get them all done I have stuff that I am going to have to paint for the Toys for Tots army. Now I am not closing the studio down or anything like that... I am just not going to be taking on as many commissions as before... like maybe 1 or 2 a month at most. Depending on how things are going with work and what all else is on the project shelf.
Speaking of project shelf. I am going to be adding a new personal project other than just my Tau and Orks and Warmachine/Hordes stuff. I am going to be building a new army for fantasy (especially saying that I have a job and I might be able to afford it). I have been looking at a couple different possibilities and as of this moment I am leaning more toward building High Elves. I really like the way that they look... and you get some really cool pieces in the Island of Blood box.
Also friends of mine that have moved to other parts of the country have got me back into playing video games (damn you Jon) and I have really fallen in love with playing Halo Reach with them. But I think I will be able to budget my time accordingly between painting and playing and working. Really I am just happy to have a real job again so I can afford to do some of the things with the studio that I have been talking about doing.
This is the other piece that I got from Scibor for this commission. Out of the two this one is my favorite. His face really turned out the best and the his posing is a little more impressive if you ask me. Hence the reason there is the extra shot of the close up on his face.
So here is the first of two pieces that were ordered from Scibor Miniatures out of Poland. Let me just say this much... I am not impressed with the quality of the miniatures from this company. Granted I could of just got a bad batch, but the resin is a poor quality resin and there are bubbles everywhere and the pieces really did not fit together all that well. But enough of the negative. I do really like the faces on the models I think they are some the best faces I have seen on this scale of model. 
So here is the terminator Librarian that I pledged to paint for the Toys for Tots army that the Freebootaz are doing up. As I have said in the past the army is going to be a massive Ultramarines army and is going to be sold on ebay (I will post links as soon as it goes up for auction) and the proceeds from the army are going to be going to the Toys for Tots. This is something that the Freebootaz have done for the last couple of years. This yeah I figured I would offer up a couple pieces and paint them up real nice to donate to the army. Now this is my personal donation but I might be painting some other stuff to get donated to the army... which of course there will be pictures of those but I will let you guys know before hand that they are not my donations.
Now onto this guy... when I went to pin the hand on I drilled though the hand and added an extra long piece of brass rod. Then I added a screaming skull to the end of the wire. Then with a little green stuff and started sculpting it. I am really liking the way it turned out. I went back and forth on what color I was going to paint the skull and stuff... but after talking it over with some friends I decided on green. To me it has more of an spooky look to it... like its got some other worldly power to it... even if it is just green stuff and wire.
